CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Matthew Murdock
CANON: Daredevil (Netflix show version)
AGE: Not sure, late twenties/early thirties?
CANON POINT: Episode 8, Shadows in the glass

BACKGROUND: here

INCENTIVE/FIT: At this point in the show things aren’t really going Matt’s way. He’s trying to bring down organized crime and it is really not working out the way he wants it to. He’s worried about his friends, who are also involved in this struggle for their own reasons, and they don’t know about Matt being a masked vigilante. He wants to keep them safe, but he also wants to protect his city and so I think if he was approached and offered a way to bring Wilson Fisk and his associates down, he would take it. As I see it, he is doubting his own methods a bit at this point in canon, and so if he was offered an alternative he might consider it. He’s willing to beat the shit out of people for information so I figure he’d be willing to hug them for it too.

Log sample:

The stranger paid too much for his suit, at least that’s what Matt figures after listening to how the fabric slides over the Eudio representative’s body. It doesn’t seem to fit quite right, but his fingers brushed against the jacket briefly when they shook hands and the material was of fine quality so he’s guessing the garment didn’t come cheap.

There is an oddness to all the scents clinging to the other man, traces of things unlike anything Matt has ever caught so much as a whiff of in all his life. He wouldn’t claim to know every scent in the world of course but that doesn’t make him any less curious about just what it is that he’s smelling.

The heartbeat he hears is steady, calm. In spite of the outlandish tale that was just spun, of a city in another world that is powered by physical intimacy, Matt can detect no hints of lying.

“Why would I be interested in going to live in Cuddletown for information about Wilson Fisk?”

Of course he is interested in that information, but it’d be stupid to admit to it. Especially not since he still doubts that they actually have anything on the man. Just because someone thinks they are telling the truth it doesn’t mean that they are. This person is obviously quite deranged.

“We thought it might be a more pleasant alternative to beating people up for it.”

A pleasant voice, fluently speaking English with an accent he can’t quite place. So calm, so smooth, and yet the words make him want to cringe as if the sound he’d just heard was that of nails against a chalkboard.

Panic shoots through him, though he remains very, very still in his seat. They know. How do they know? This is a trap, it must be, and so he tenses, preparing to strike…

ANYTHING ELSE?

Matt is blind, but all his other senses are incredibly sensitive. He can hear what is going on blocks away, materials that to us are soft feel coarse to him, his senses of smell and taste are equally developed. He can deduce an astounding amount of things based on all this sensory data, and describes it as seeing “a world on fire”. He is a superb fighter and can take a tremendous amount of damage and still keep going.
